[ONLINE] China Committee: European Business in China: Position Paper 2024/2025
Join this session to hear from Bruno Weill and Charles Billard from the European Chamber in China about their findings of Position Paper 2024
[Speakers will be live online]
The European Business in China Position Paper serves as the European Chamber's key publication and foundation for its annual advocacy strategy. Developed over nine months by its 48 working groups, sub-working groups, desks, and forums, the Position Paper includes over 1,000 constructive recommendations. These highlight not only the significant challenges European companies encounter in China but also their dedication to enhancing the business landscape.
This year's European Business in China Position Paper examines the challenges European businesses face due to China's sluggish economic recovery and regulatory uncertainties, alongside recommendations for policy reform and enhanced cooperation.
As doing business in China becomes increasingly challenging, the need for Chinese authorities to follow through on reform pledges announced in the past year is urgent. The paper provides a blueprint for rebuilding business confidence in the Chinese markets and offers solutions to restore it as the preferred destination for global investment.
While European companies face significant challenges, it is crucial to maintain strong cooperation and communication between their headquarters and China operations. Ensuring that accurate information is transmitted between the two parties is key to success for foreign companies, and a confidence-based relationship must be rebuilt. At the government level, ties must be strengthened to establish a sustainable economic environment where companies can thrive.
