Anne-Valérie is a business author, faculty member and executive education professional. She has co-authored several books including A Dream with a Deadline: Turning Strategy into Action (with Jacques Horovitz, FT Prentice Hall, 2007); Smart Big Moves: A Story of Strategic Breakthroughs (with Paul Strebel, FT Prentice Hall, 2008), Effectual Entrepreneurship (Routledge, 2011) and Take the Lead: How women leaders are driving success through innovation, published in February 2024 (co-authored with Delphine Mourot and professor Shaheena Janjuha-Jivraj).
Her teaching expertise includes Innovation, Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship, New Ventures, Ideation, Strategy, and change management. Anne-Valerie has written for Sloan Management Review and the FT Handbook of Management and has published a substantial number of articles and case studies.
She obtained her PhD from RMIT in Social Innovation. She has served as an advisor to the US National Intelligence Council in the development of global scenarios to advise the presidential administration and has held international marketing roles at Pfizer and the International Olympic Committee prior to her career in executive education.
She has worked and taught at IMD and Insead, the EPFL and Singapore Management University. She launched BCG’s center for leadership and talent, serving the firm’s multinational clients before joining Duke Corporate Education as managing director for Asia, the Middle East and India. In 2020 she joined HEC Paris as Dean for Executive Education. Anne-Valérie has lived and worked in Europe, South Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
