Our client is seeking a highly motivated, strategic thinking professional for the position of in house Legal Counsel to help with the increasing legal work that the company requires.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Legal Counsel will work closely with Department Heads across all departments, as well as the Legal Committee of the Board.

The successful candidate will:
Be a strategic thinker, capable of helping to solve issues at hand together with the team from a legal perspective
Be flexible in approach with wide range of legal issues that need addressing including Organisation’s by-laws, human resources issues, operational contracts, improvement and construction works, liaising with Government bodies and general corporate matters
Be a team player, and interact effectively with all stakeholders of the company
Be able to work independently and on own initiative, solving problems as necessary

Job Responsibilities:
Be the lead on all legal aspects for the company including working on drafting new documents, reviewing existing documents, and providing advice on ongoing issues and questions from the team
Liaise with external legal parties as needed, in order to streamline our legal questions and issues
Work with the Legal Committee of the Board on projects as needed
Work with the Executive Director to plan and budget for legal needs & requirements throughout the school
Establish internal policies, procedures and systems as needed, in line with industry best practices

Job Requirements:
Candidates must possess the following skills:
Minimum 3 Years PQE Lawyer. Preference will be made for Hong Kong qualifications but qualifications from other Commonwealth Jurisdictions will be considered
Previous in-house, employment, construction, corporate and/or corporate secretarial experience would be useful
Demonstrated experience in strong decision making ability, and willingness to support changing department initiatives
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to engage effectively with stakeholders to ensure relevant responses
Self-starter with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a results-driven mentality
Ability to work effectively across all teams and stakeholders, and ability to work accurately and to deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively plan, coordinate tasks and priorities
Fluency in English with strong communication skills (verbal and written) a must, and fluency in French would be an advantage
