A CONQUERING CHINA
Investigation into an unusual superpower

Topic

Should we fear China ? After  successfully building an incredible power in less than thirty years, this giant of 1.4 billion citizens considers itself as the world superpower and is asserting it loudly.
China floods the world with its exports and swallows the planet’s raw materials. Can it substantially modify the world’s course ? Can its thundering military gesticulations in the China sea lead to a major international conflict ? What is the real nature of this strange regime,  both communist and capitalist at the same time, with the communist party of 88 million members ruling without any counter powers ?
Jacques Gravereau schrewdly deciphers the China of today and helps us understand the peculiar thinking patterns of this great culture at the antipodes of the western standards.
Here is an amazing portrait of China’s successful and impressive rise to power, yet it also exposes a major environmental disaster, a delicate social structure, an economic rush ahead which is increasingly problematic, and a dangerous nationalism stirred up by a single party using it as a recipe for it’s longevity.
Vivid and inspiring, avoiding clichés and containing a lot of meaningful stories, this book is a real page-turner.
